This is how RD handles your information, in plain words. RD is run by woollen on the Isle of Man, and the Isle of Man's data protection law (which follows the GDPR) applies.
What we collect, and why
On this website
- Your email address, if you ask to be told when RD opens or to hear about events. We use it for that and nothing else. We keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
- Your name, email address and message, if you write to us through a contact form. We keep the message for as long as we need it to reply and follow up.
- A short-lived record of your connection when you send a form, so that one sender can't flood it. It is a hashed address that is dropped after an hour.
The website sets no advertising or tracking cookies and uses no analytics service.
In the app
- Your account: your name, your email address, and if you sign in with Apple or Google, the identifier they give us. This is how we know it's you.
- Your profile: a handle, a photo if you add one, and your settings.
- Rides: the rides you plan, join and lead, with their route, time and group. Other riders on a ride can see that you're on it.
- Where you are during a ride: if you turn on live tracking for a ride, your location is shared with the ride's leader and group from check-in until the ride ends, and then it stops. From your phone, or from a Garmin device you've linked. You can turn it off at any time.
- Messages you send in a ride's chat, visible to the riders on that ride.
- Notifications: a device token so we can send you ride updates, if you allow notifications.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't keep your ride location after the ride has ended, beyond the ride's own record of who rode and which way.
Who else sees it
Your data lives with the services we run on. They process it on our instructions and nowhere else:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the website, the app's servers and its database.
- Apple and Google, if you sign in with them, and for sending notifications to your phone.
- Garmin, if you link a Garmin device, for the data you choose to share from it.
- Our email provider, for the emails we send you.
If the plan for insured rides goes ahead, cover for a ride would mean sharing that ride's facts (who rode, the route, the times, and any incident report) with the insurer. We would tell you clearly before any of that starts, and your riding record stays yours to share or not.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can delete your account from inside the app, which removes your profile and takes you off every ride. For anything else, write to us through the form on the home page, and we'll reply within a month. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Isle of Man Information Commissioner.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, we'll say so here and, if you have an account, in the app.
