The short version: ride with care, be straight with the people you ride with, and remember that a ride in the app is organised by a rider like you, not by us.
What RD is
RD is an app and website for organising group rides on the Isle of Man, run by woollen. It lets riders plan rides, join them, share where they are during a ride, and talk to the group. It is in beta: things will change, and sometimes break.
Your account
- You need to be 18 or over, or riding with the permission and under the care of someone who is.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself. You're responsible for what's done with your account.
- Use your real name and a real photo, if you add one. People are trusting the app to tell them who they're riding with.
Riding
- You ride at your own risk. Cycling on roads, tracks and trails has risks, and the people on a ride, including its leader, are riders like you. The app doesn't make a ride safe, and we don't check routes, riders or conditions.
- Follow the law and the land. Ride where you're allowed to, keep to the line on private land you've been given access to, close gates, and give way to walkers and horses.
- Turn up or drop out. If you join a ride and can't make it, leave it in the app so the group knows.
- Leaders set the route, the time and the group size. They can remove a rider from their ride. They don't owe anyone a rescue, and the app doesn't promise one.
- In an emergency, call 999. Then tell the ride.
Being decent
No harassment, no abuse, no spam, nothing illegal, in rides or in chat. We can remove content and close accounts that break this, without notice if we need to.
Our side
- We provide the app as it is, and we'll do our best to keep it running and to fix what breaks, but we don't guarantee it will always be available or correct.
- As far as the law allows, we're not liable for injury, loss or damage that comes from riding, from a ride organised through the app, or from the app being unavailable or wrong.
- We can change or close the service. If we close it, we'll give you notice and a way to get your data.
Your content
What you put in the app, such as routes, photos and messages, stays yours. You give us permission to show it to the people it's meant for and to keep the service running.
The legal bits
These terms are governed by the law of the Isle of Man. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. Questions: the form on the home page.
